In 2008/2009 we wanted to develop a few iPhone-apps, just to get the hang of it. A couple of them became more popular than we anticipated, and MailMe was even awarded 4,5 out of 5 by MacWorld in the US. Now, we're taking them down.
It was a great way for us to learn, a hobby project, but it also ended up delivering something useful to thousands of users around the world. There simply were no apps that would allow you to either type or record messages that ended up in your email inbox with as few taps as with MailMe. Everyday life optimization.
Or as Brian Beam, who reviewed MailMe for Macworld, put it:
It’s simplicity at its finest.
However. We’ve decided to discontinue the MailMe apps. It’s been fun, but there simply is no business in keeping them, and it's really hard to have too many hobby projects up and running at the same time.
We know that some of you will miss them, and we haven’t really found any similar apps that we think are as good, but if you have, please recommend some in the comments below.
